Um, not quite

Over on the CityLife Twitter feed, there’s a link to a piece by Las Vegas Sun writer John Katsilometes, who claims to have been the first person to call for Criss Angel to be bounced from his Cirque de Soleil show at the Luxor. (That piece ran in the Jan. 16, 2009 issue of the Las Vegas Weekly, which, like the Sun, is owned by the Greenspun Media Group.)

Um, sorry, but it was, in fact, CityLife — ever diligent about reducing the overall douchebag quotient in Las Vegas — that was out front on this. You see, we not only called for the churlish Angel to be bounced from his by-all-accounts terrible show, but from Las Vegas itself, in our annual Get Out of Town issue. (Run date: Dec. 11, 2008, more than a month before the Katsilometes piece.)

It’s all right, John. We accept your apology.

Jeff D:

Apologies, but until we saw your comment and link, we were unaware of your very existence, much less of your wish that Criss Angel disappear for real.

Now that you’ve made us aware of it, of course, we’re glad to acknowledge your 2007 post. Sorry to force you to lose your bet.

So when does the exalted Sebelius acknowledge he wasn’t first either? My bet? NEVER. See here, though:

Would you two ninnies stop bitching at each other over Criss Angel? For Christ’s sake, go to OfficeMax, buy some notepads and pens, get some sturdy shoes and go work on a real story. The gal from “I can’t believe it’s a newspaper” did some hard work and ended up with a friggin’ Pulitzer.
