So satirizing a non-American dictator is ipso facto racist, etc.; but satirizing the U.S. as the real dictatorship is cool.

That's why Leftism is intellectually bankrupt.

But when the Cosmopolitan had bands playing for free on the Book and Stage many nights seldom had a audience. If they did have an audience, then it was full of hipsters clutching a bottle of water, talking throughout and generally not invested.
Dang, I would love free shows but artists need to be paid and the venue needs to make money. Without that happening then live music and new artists are just about dead.

Sad, a great venue idea, but I did wonder about the noise. The hotel has as much right to exist as the Junkyard, and seeing as that was already there something had to give.

Lots of neighbors make the trek to Whole Foods or Trader Joes (or get delivery from Winder Farms) for fresh, *organic* produce, dairy and meat products. It would be great to have those products available nearby.

I am glad to see that the Bells owners are responding to their neighbors' requests for grocery store products! I have also been following the store's progress and have encouraged neighbors to put in their wish lists for products. The communication by these two business partners with the neighborhood has increased and I think the referenced "opposition" residents who initially attended the January 11, 2012 Planning Commission meeting regarding the business' request for a package liquor license, a completely different topic of discussion regarding liquor's impact to the community, are likely to support the grocery store venture. It seems the concerned residents who voiced their opinions at the meeting spurred the owners' reaction to comments initiated about their business and they have taken note. Exactly the sort of result community participation and public meetings should deliver.

We want to see downtown business owners succeed and are happy to support business ventures that make sense and boost community spirit, value and improve the downtown quality of life. Grocery stores are much needed downtown, and while comments stated in the previous article were leary in light of the context of the packaged liquor license sales, the GROCERY STORE venture is much appreciated. I for one, am not concerned in the least that it won't be a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods. Hope to promote and advocate for increased quality business development downtown that promotes community spirit and higher quality of life.

Downtown oppositionists need to reevaluate what they are trying to do. Impasse and delays serve to stifle enterprise and often make things worse. For all the Huntridge supporters, what have you achieved in years of opposition? Delaying the inevitable implosion until the covenants run out, that is all.
Shoshani and Hirmiz might not be Whole Foods or Trader Joe's but non of those chains are interested in locating Downtown. These two guys are the only two interested and willing to invest now.
The question should be do the oppositionists want White Cross to be derelict for five years, with vagrants sleeping there or do they want a business there?

Have the police done a good investigation? Is everyone sure it was suicide? Tommy didn't seem like the type. He was full of integrity - did he make someone mad? Just wondering because it doesn't make sense. Best to you always Tommy, you will be missed.

This is such a sad loss. Tommy was an integral part of my circle of friends in Las Vegas for years, and one of the best musicians and music writers in town. He was warmhearted, kind, and sarcastic as hell. We bonded over both being quiet and introverted, but he could converse about any subject. My deepest condolences go out to his family and close circle of friends.

The few strums of the guitar we got for Laid wasn't a tease. It was at the time when we were asked to shout out for what we wanted in the encore. Once Getting Away With It won we were asked 'Are you sure you don't want Laid?' (or something similar) then a few chords were played. Not really a tease.

Great review though.

I travelled over from the UK especially for this gig (with the bonus of seeing Madness the night before at the House of Blues) and it was well worth the effort to see them in this setting :)

Tommy was truly one of a kind. I was fortunate to attend high school with him. He was known as a friend to all; never did he discriminate with his affections .. he was wonderful to all who he encountered. His success with The Killers and other musical groups did not surprise me. He was a man with a personality and soul that was bound for glory .. publicly, privately and professionally. My only hope is that he knew how loved he was by all. May he rest in peace.

Tommy was truly one of a kind! His sense of humor and ability to turn the banal into solid gold was unparalleled. I'm so grateful to have had Tommy in my life and will never forget our inspired and youthful days of filmmaking back at UNLV in 2001.
Positive energy and love to Ryan, Melissa, Emily, the entire Marth family and all those that were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
To my brother from another mother... and father... One love mangla! May you Rest In Paradise!
