Coachella
Coachella 2012 lineup announced

Radiohead, The Black Keys, and a reteaming of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg will headline both weekends of Coachella, the game-changer festival staged every April near Palm Springs, Calif. In fact, it seems the relevance, stature and draw of Coachella has compelled every act to sign on for both April 13-15 and April 20-22. Miracles appear possible.
And while Daft Punk and Tom Waits show up nowhere, despite rumors and high hopes, the undercard is nonetheless making us salivate. Highlights include:
- The long-awaited reunions of pre-millennium punk icons At the Drive-In and Refused.
- The return of legacy acts like The Buzzcocks, Madness, Pulp, fIREHOSE, Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum, James, Company Flow, Squeeze and Mazzy Star. Two others — Jimmy Cliff and Atari Teenage Riot – played Las Vegas in 2011.
- A bevvy of last year’s critical and indie faves, including M83, Bon Iver, The Horrors, Beirut, St. Vincent, Girls, SBTRKT, Wild Flag, Yuck, Real Estate and Tune-Yards.
- Several residents/exclusive DJs of Strip dance clubs, such as Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Kaskade, Sebastian Ingrosso, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Alesso and Porter Robinson. (Don’t see some huge names on here? It’s possible Insomniac secured some of them as “exclusives” for June’s Electric Daisy Carnival.)
Update: The Coachella website, which has been unreliable today since the lineup was unveiled, says weekend passes will go onsale this Friday, January 13, at 10 a.m. It says regular ($285) and VIP ($665) festival passes for the first weekend are “sold out.” However, regular festival/shuttle pass combos ($335) are apparently available for both weekends. A couple of onsite camping options are also sold out.
