Maybe you saw the blog item earlier this week about Sen. John Ensign’s former friend and employee Doug Hampton and his decisions to speak on camera to a network news crew. From what I was told, about the three-hour interview, Hampton really laid into Ensign and essentially accused the senator of knowingly violating several laws as he tried to cover up an affair with Cynthia Hampton, Doug’s wife.
Apparently this item has caused a bit of a stir as political folks try to find out which network crew scored the scoop. So here’s the info; the people who got the Doug Hampton interview work for ABC’s Nightline. This is extra bad news for Ensign since Nightline has the freedom to devote much more airtime to a story than, say, an evening newscasts.
They will be able to delve into the excruciating details, such as who wore what underwear, what positions were tried, and what promises were made. I have no idea when the program will air, but am guessing it will be in the near future, maybe as soon as next week. Now, if someone can just get Mrs. Hampton to spill …
